Joachim Venus, Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy Potsdam: “When it comes to economic framework conditions, we often refer to America and its so-called ‘Buyer-Preferred-Program’. It lists thousands upon thousands of products that must be preferentially purchased during public procurement procedures, even if fossil-based counterparts exist and even if they are more expensive. This means is a huge obligation to choose these products, and, of course, that would boost the demand.”

Prof. Johannes Ganster, Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Polymer Research: “The public funding of research projects or even pilot plants and similar measures are, I believe, conducive to pushing biopolymers forward.”

Jörg Raulin, K/C Kunststoffspritzerei und Formenbau, Oberkrämer: “It would be more advantageous if slight pressure was perhaps put on the producers, on the manufacturers, from a macroeconomic point of view. Biodiesel, for example, was also only introduced because of the pressure exerted by politicians.”
